There's more than business brewing between two old high school flames...

Stubbornly self-reliant Mary Beth Kendrick needs financial backing to keep her catering business cooking. A looming corporate buyout forces her to accept help from Tom Sackett, the man who broke her heart and left her distrustful of men.

Unable to forget Mary Beth, Tom sets out to win her forgiveness. As he gets to know her again through their shared business interests, he realizes he wants more than forgiveness from her. He wants her in his life.

Grateful for Tom's support but unwilling to trust him, Mary Beth vows to keep their relationship strictly business. But his attentiveness, culminating in a night of passion, starts to melt her icy resolve and shows her the caring, sensitive man Tom has become.

Mary Beth's catering business is on the verge of bankruptcy. And the only choice she has is to accept help from handsome Tom Sackett, the boy who broke her heart twelve years ago.

Tom never forgot his 'Cat Eyes' and what happened years ago. Seeing an opportunity to help her and a chance for forgiveness, he offers a solution to save her company.

But can they keep their relationship strictly business when Mary Beth realizes that the Tom she meets again is a changed man, and Tom realizes that he wants Mary Beth back? Will Mary Beth be able to trust Tom again and give him another chance?

For one short novel, this book could have been made shorter and it wouldn't have made a difference. Overall, it's a good read. Short and entertaining enough to keep you reading from page to page. But I can't help but feel annoyed with Mary Beth that sometimes I want to put some sense into her. She was so insecure that there was a time I just wished for Tom to just give up on her. Her protests and unreasonable anger were tiring and irritating. She was supposed to be smart in the story but when it comes to Tom, she gets harebrained. I don't like insecure and indecisive heroines and Mary Beth is just like that.

I also noticed a lot of repeated scenes in the book. Scenes where Mary Beth keeps pushing Tom away that it's actually ridiculous and nonsense. If some of those scenes were removed, you would still get a complete story. I wish there were more issues instead of the repeated 'love him, don't love him' conflict.

On the good side, the book is a true blue romance. There were some really sweet scenes that I felt butterflies in my stomach just reading it. I like Tom's character. He was sweet and pretty intense when it comes to his feelings about Mary Beth. I love how he pursues her until she softens toward him.

I'm giving A CATERED ROMANCE 3.5 stars. I recommend this to readers who love short, sweet romance stories that can be finished in one sitting. The book might not be my cup of tea, but I still enjoyed reading it.
