An endless love story with a paranormal twist.

Calisto Terana has waited centuries to be reunited with his lady love, Tala. Even though circumstances beyond his control tore them apart, he still feels responsible for her death. After finding no consolation and becoming despondent, Calisto (then Father Gregorio) unwittingly becomes cursed by "The Old One," making him a Night Walker.

Kate Bradley's life has been a recent series of losses. She lost her parents in a horrific accident. Then she finds her cheating ex-fiancé about to do the horizontal mambo with a student. Needing to lick her wounds of abandonment, she is so not in the market for another relationship. Yet, when she meets Calisto, there is an instant, unwavering attraction - one that unnerves and intrigues her all at once.

Calisto realizes instantaneously that Kate is his beloved Tala, reincarnated. His longing for her is hard to contain, but he must tread softly so he doesn't scare her away. He's also well aware that the Fraternidad Del Fuego Santo has not given up their hunt for him. They are a society of priests, who are aware of what he is and are hell-bent on ending his existence. His faith in his fellow brethren was his and Tala's undoing before. However, this time, he is prepared to defeat all who intend to stand in the way of his reuniting with his true love.

However, Calisto is not prepared for Father Mentigo, a deranged deviant, who has taken a vow to not let this reunion come to fruition. His reasons for not wanting Calisto and Kate to find each other have nothing to do with his faith and more to do with his own wicked agenda. Will Calisto and Kate find their way to one another and make their relationship last this time? Or will the fates intervene and cause unbearable heartache for them both?

I really liked Calisto, though he was a bit removed sometimes in his interactions with Kate. He had this way of answering a question with a question, which drove me nuts. Kate, on the other hand, was a harder pill for me to swallow. She accepted the oddities (his virtually empty house) about Calisto all too quickly. One would think she'd be a little more reserved after her trust had been broken with her ex. I also never quite connected with Kate and found her character a bit "vanilla." Calisto was a much better written character whose passion and determination knew no bounds.

All in all, this was a decent read. Waiting an eternity to find one's lost love again is such a romantic, passionate theme. Unfortunately, the fire and passion I was so looking forward to just never materialized.
