Wanting him had to be a sin…
He saved me from the darkness, but by then I could never go back to the light. His eyes haunted me. When I'm given the choice to offer up my body for one month in exchange for my brother's life, I don't even hesitate. It's dangerous, this dance we're in, and I can't look away. But will it be enough?
Olivia was mine.
She stood there trembling in the dark, wounded, and that's when I knew I had to have her. I would protect her, from our families and even from myself. But when fate handed her back to me on a silver platter, I couldn't let her go. Her place was in my bed. All I had to do was survive long enough to keep her.

Have you ever loved someone despite knowing you could never have her? Because to have her would mean certain retribution? Have you ever waited for him to come but he never did? What happens when what is thought to be unrequited love, isn't? In Erzabet Bishop's TORMENT, we meet Dane, the son of a mob boss, and Olivia, a perennial bargaining chip for the men in her family.
Likes: The cats (hee); how strong Olivia seems even though she's quaking inside; the library (swoons); Mrs. Jensen's motherly nature; the prologue, which gives the readers the story's background.
Dislikes: This is a shorter story or what I'd call a naughty nooner as it can be read in about an hour, and as such, some aspects of the story don't get developed. That said, I wouldn't have minded if the story was longer so that we could see more of the differences between Dane and Ambrose rather than simply being told. Since we are gifted with knowing so much more about Olivia and her strengths, it would have been nice if that was better balanced with Dane.
Overall, I like the story. It's an easy read, not too over the top and made for an engaging post-dinner read.
